Talented Healer / Altruism combined with all the "Draw a card" cards a priest has these results: edit : did I mention he had 2 x Leadership cards by round 2 ? => http://i.imgur.com/VzFNzrn.jpg
Like ram said touch of death them do oblivion while this is being looked in to tho i personally think its not that big a problem if they want to center their entire deck on draw support for a warrior as a single disruption card on him should leave the entire team useless.
Except not only not everyone runs touch of death (I personally don`t have amazing gear with it), hell, not everyone runs priests at all. Consider that countering even a single warrior might be very difficult, even if you frost jolt him, a warrior might draw enough traits to cycle it out, get purged by his clerics (Pops Altruism), or in the case of dwarves, Shrug it Off. Touch of theat, btw, can also be Parried or negated by Nimbus, and i would sure run Cause Fumbles on Defender Block on my clerics to prevent this. There is ONE card in the game that stuns, and only touch of death punishes handsize (The other would be Devastating Blow but that needs to reveal stuff). When you can draw every single card in your deck, it is not difficult to draw answers to whatever might interrupt your killing spree. Also, if the third pivot is, lets say, a Wizard, he could run perplexing rays to get rid of the resistance. The best way to beat the combo is separating them with whirlwinds or walls but even then they only need to be at 6 range from each other, which comes around easily You can`t rely on only one card in your deck to do the work for you against their strategy, they, however, can
How would your touch of death even hit him? Currently touch of death is blocked by every block in the game, including flimsy block.
Leadership/Altruism/talented healer is currently an unholy broken mess. I expect some major fixes coming
Had a warrior today that healed more than 50 hp thanks to Altruism/Talented Healer. Going to wait for a new build, see if they fix this. Right now the game is 90% luck, 10% skill.
Leadership and Talented Healer are two very powerful cards which could both afford to be nerfed, but even if they were nerfed I suspect this kind of strategy would still linger. I reckon that what we really need to deal with this kind of thing are some new card with new effects to counter characters who draw lots of cards. Touch Of Death is a good start, but I think there should be more. Stun cards are one obvious example. If a player can manage to stun one of these characters that are drawing heaps of cards, then that would complete negate the effects of the big stack of cards. Another possible idea is a card-effect that causes enemies to take damage whenever they draw a card, or one which simply prevents them from drawing cards entirely; or one which cause the enemy to discard cards until they have a certain number of them (eg. 3). However, I think it's probably a good idea to not introduce card effects that are too niche. So when designing these cards I think it's important that they have some utility value even if the enemy isn't trying to draw a bazillion cards.
Don't worry i can also poke holes in strategy with endless setup power and forethought. How can he even draw cards if i kill all his guys? How does he target his warrior when i have stone walls all over the place? not sure if you know this but you can't block from the back or if you don't have any block cards in hand. Anything can be poked holes in if you try really hard. Besides massive card drawing strategies will always exist and should. This is beta they are currently working on keeping them from being too reliable which is the only real concern.
Stone walls are definitely badass, but getting behind an enemy reliably is pretty damn tough. How many free-move cards can you put on a priest? Also, using touch of death to counter priests means that the only way to counter priests is with other priests.
Leadership was just nerfed possibly too much lets see how it works out after that. Know that I'm not actually saying drawing your deck twice reliably is fine just that there are counters to it and when it works properly decks can sometimes make it and sometimes they just missdraw and fail. Me and my friends where the first to make inf draw combos as far as i know outside of dev testing and i then pushed it further to prove that it was silly getting talented healer nerfed. If its too good it should and will be fixed but if someone simply manages to draw a ton of cards one match that is not a game problem since as i said there are cards to work against it.
