I love the chess concept behind the Shrine of the Astral Guardians campaign scenario. But I'd love it even more if there were more chess-inspired elements. Perhaps pawns can only move orthogonally, and have a devastating (one-range) diagonal attack? Rooks should be able to charge up to 8 orthogonally, and bishops should be able to do the same diagonally.

I haven't played Return to the Astral Shrine yet, but I may have more comments then.

It would be a lot tougher if the rooks could move fast.

After playing Return to the Astral Shrine, it sure seems to be begging for a boss fight with a king and a queen, no?

  4. While this would make sense, you´d quickly notice this would make Rooks inescapable and would make bishops very easily defeated. Also, proper use of walls and ZOC would defeat both very easily, which is, IMO, not the idea

I´m just surprised there´s no Knight, you would expect it to have some crazy step attacks, although wording its movement in the text of a card would be cumbersome

"Push this card 1 or 2 spaces in a cardinal direction, then 2 or 1 spaces horizontally (respectivelly?)"

well, that means there's more than enough room for a new adventure at a higher level...right ? ;)
