Now here's a random though: allowing the purchase of a basic (common/uncommon only) gear set for every adventure (some adventures would use the same set packs) - as a way out for those struck by rng gods. Make it a small pizza fee (scaling based on adventure level - due to amount of slots unlocked, early adventures could be really cheap - 5-15 pizza) or a larger amount of gold (so it can be grindable). Meaning basically that the pack for Wizard's Workshop would contain some penetrating cards, Ruby Demon Portal high on movement cards, and possibly reflect missile. This isn't likely something I'd use myself - but would this be something people stuck could and would find beneficial to their experience. Would this detrimental to anyone, and would BM even be able to monetize this issue? Would everyone w1n?
This kind of option is usually a bad position to be in for a F2P game. It tends to create obfuscated "money gates" in the game, i.e. the game won't come right out and say it but paying up is the only option to progress, or hope a tiny random chance to obtain what you need (and the odds on that are usually never disclosed and subject to no oversight). It's a really slimy monetization practice that's rampant in mobile games. I understand that's not the direction you're suggesting at all, but IMO making players pay to overcome what amounts to bad game design (i.e. RNG can screw you over permanently) leads in the same direction. If the random item drops you get can get so bad that you can't progress, I'd say the solution is the weight the RNG in such a way to prevent it from happening in the first place.
True, I'm pretty sure it could be viewed as a way to make money and piss people off - if people indeed lack the gear. Myself I never got into this trouble, but with the recent complaints about gear being an issue to beat some of the adventures I figured we'd look at how this could be handled with RNG still being a factor in the game (ie no set drops). I guess a single starter pack with basic items would be a better deal, than on every adventure.
