I have just fought first 4 square boss Malvelous (?) - 8 lvl quest I have cast fire wall under him and then the turn end. He should receive 20 damage for being on a lava, but he has received none. Second, i tried to play "thrust" on him. My melee character was one tile away and behind pillar. There was a line between my hero and the boss and yet card showed as there is no valid target ... Conclusion: i think one of the corners of boss counts as the point of reference. Thus fire under other tiles does nothing, and also the line of sight is calculated wrongly.
I think Melvelous might use Hover in his deck if I recall correctly, also it seems the next build stops an enemy being affected by more than 1 terrain effect - if donkeys tell the truth. However, there is an issue with large mobs and targetting, los, reach and step like you say (seems to calculate from a spec part of the large mob).
I've played this adventure a couple of times very recently and I didn't notice any problem with targeting Melvelous with either melee attacks or terrain attachments.
I always figured, as long as you can draw a line from the center of your square to the center of any square the enemy occupies, you can hit it. And visa versa. I've never had any problems with line of sight with large enemies when keeping that in mind.
i have only problems with Melvelous - i have clear line from the center of my square to the center of Melvelous and yet i cannot attack him. Happened 4 times in the campaign in various battle against him.
Any chance you could grab a screenshot the next time it happens to you? Then we could either confirm it as a bug or point out why you are unable to attack him.
i did not yet played those missions (but i will eventually come back) here is a screen however, i was hit by boss in this situation (it shows clearly that a los is drawn not between the center of boss, but from corner)
This is expected. They are able to see and attack from the center of any of the 4 squares they occupy, just as you should be able to attack any of the 4 of the squares they are in.
