Here are a couple new screen shots, things are pulling together it seems, and we get a chance to look at some other race class combos like the elf warrior!
Dig the elf warrior art, and the mention that a rogue class is still in the works--with some really powerful backstabbing abilities, it seems!
And they mentioned that beta would begin soon (they promised this time)! But, soon could mean a few weeks or a few more months. >.>
I love that the zoomed out screenshot shows the tabletop and the dice over to the side. This diary was really cool.
If anybody asked me to describe Card Hunter, I would start with "board game." That's a pretty big genre and I wouldn't ignore the collecting metagame but in my point of view the fundamental conflict is to maneuver your pieces about the map, only each one's abilities are not fixed as they would be in, say, chess. A half hour could be a reasonable time commitment for a board game.
Updated tournament stats: Player - Total Games / Wins / Percentage: Farbs - 17/12/71% Jon - 12/6/50% Dorian - 12/6/50% Jay - 12/2/17% Skaff - 2/2/100% Ben - 3/1/33% Marc - 1/0/0% I'm feeling pretty secure
That's a pretty good summation. I've been thinking about how it has a chess like feel lately. It really is a war of maneuver* at a fundamental level. * manoeuvre, whatever
Speaking of classic boardgames where the pieces have different powers, have you guys ever played this one? http://quadradius.com/quadradius/index.html It's a pretty great game. I only stopped playing it because it is competitive multi-player only and the community was really hostile to new players. I got tired of being told what an idiot I was while playing It is worth checking out though.
