Current pvp lacks lacks glory, sparkles, trumpets and royal subjects. I propose the introduction of The Grand Tournament - a weekly event to determine the true holder of the bragging rights. 100 gold coins to join, tournament style groups and brackets. Oh and a great prize at for the winner.
You can see the current holder of bragging rights by looking at the Leader-boards. I predict the outcome of any "free for all tourney" to be the same.
Yes. And it just feels.. empty. Being on top of a table is just being on top of a table. Having an event is more fun.
Oh, you were proposing the general idea of tournaments: I thought you were proposing one specific type of them. Yes, Blue Manchu will surely give us tournaments once they have time for it. For now, they're still working on perfecting basic multiplayer. Various folks have proposed various kinds of events, and I don't quite recall where the developers last expressed their thoughts.
Tournaments are a grand idea, but... the game is made by an australian team, for an international public. Imagine the time zone madness in trying to get people online at the same time...
Not an insurmountable problem - of course you would be right that tournaments that require everyone online at the same time would be essentially impossible. So they just need rules that fit - a tournament could be held over a week and count the results of the first 10 PvP matches you play that week against other tournament entrants, or just ranked matches if the tournament is too small to guarantee opponents. Or whatever rules you choose to apply Or you can hold presence required tournaments at different times of the day to allow the different time zone players their chance at glory (and the dedicated tournament player their chance to get up at 4am and lord it over some foreigners). The Blue Manchu time zone is irrelevant of course - they would automate the tournamanent - they have to, essentially no one else lives in their time zone! Silly antipodeans. Gray
