More individual keyword pages are in: Frenzy, Halt, Hard to Block, Heal, Keep, Linear, May Self Target, Penetrating Suggestions for improvement are welcome. You may know a detail or see a need for an explanation that I overlooked.
I usually parry/block against opponents who use penetrating attacks, ditto for frenzied ones. Fairly basic and useful strategy.
"May Self Target" would still be better as "May Target Self." But that's not your issue: you just call 'em like they are. (The thing is that, technically, any words combined together into a single verb like "Self Target" should be hyphenated as "Self-Target" to indication that "Self" is being usurped into a different grammatical function. Without the hyphen, there's a tiny jump before you get to the main verb "Target" at the end. You know you are being given permission to do something ("May"), but only after the logical jump do you understand it is "self-targeting." However, hyphenation seems to be fading from common usage. Without it, it's preferable to use the alternative of "May Target Self": this has no complex grammar and is instantly understandable as you read from left to right.)
Funny you should say that, I actually wrote "May Target Self" and had to go back and correct it while double-checking my copy.
I personally think we should remove may self target and just let all spells do that... But barring that i like the sound of may self target more but may target self is definitely clearer tho both are confusing if you don't know most spells cant self target. Maybe that should be in the tutorial for priests?
Well . . . if you want to be technical about it, most CARDS are non-self-targetable. You can't play a Melee Attack on yourself to trigger Martyr Blessing, for instance, even though "logically" you should be able to jab your spear into your own foot. Thus, if they want to label such things, it's more efficient to specify the small subset of self-targetable cards. Also, I think it's useful this way as a warning/education system. Normally you can click on (in the above example) a Melee Attack while no one is in range and the game will politely inform you "there are no valid targets," saving you from wasting a card. People in a hurry might even click Attacks just to see if an enemy is within range. With the "May Self Target" text, you get a reminder that you should be darn sure you want to play the card; someone is always in range.
