Asked to discard with only two cards; one actually went missing; then it all froze

    Sir Knight Sir-ulean Dragon

I was sitting at end-of-round in the first battle of Pools of Slime, and my Dwarf Warrior had two cards visible in his hand: Shrug It Off and Spiked Mail. Unholy Frenzy was attached to him, but that didn't matter: I had two cards and I didn't need to discard.

Except the computer was telling me to select a card for him to discard. Check this out:

BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Thudric needs to discard a card
    BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Player,Sir Knight,Event,SelectCardRequired,Selections,Shrug it Off|Spiked Mail|Spiked Mail
    MESSAGE: Error #1009
    STACK TRACE:
    TypeError: Error #1009
[A whole bunch of stuff I could copy if needed]

. . . Note the two copies of Spiked Mail. I had two copies of Spiked Mail earlier in the round, and no one hit the Warrior with a pseudopod or anything. It just was triggered by an Able Bludgeon, killed the enemy, and seemingly vanished. That section of the log is completely boring:

    BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Player,Gary,Event,PlayAction,Action,Able Bludgeon
Failed to load streaming audio asset: MP3Loader 'audio' (http://live.cardhunter.com/assets/audio/ooze03.mp3)
    BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Glrqurlr took 2 damage
BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Detaching and discarding Fire Spray from Glrqurlr
BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Detaching and discarding Fireball from Glrqurlr
    BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Glrqurlr died
    BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Thudric took 3 damage
BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=The active player is now Sir Knight

Thus, I had to presume it was a visual bug only. Whee?

I tested further, discarding Shrug it Off, and went into the next round. The second Spiked Mail did not reappear. I then damaged the Warrior with another Unholy Frenzy to test. The visuals cycled through the Raging Strike he just drew, then rolled for armor on the first Spiked Mail, then just plain froze. Unholy Frenzy is centered on the screen and I can scroll around, but nothing's happening. I now presume it is looking for a Spiked Mail it can't find:

BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=The active player is now Sir Knight
    BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Pools of Slime,Scenario=Bad Jelly,Msg=Player,Sir Knight,Event,PlayAction,Action,Unholy Frenzy
    MESSAGE: Error #1009
    STACK TRACE:

I have everything saved in a Word file. What should I post? And is there any sort of "cut" or "spoiler" command on this forum so I could post logs in a collapsed form?

Coincidence? I think not! (Imagine dramatic tone of voice.)

error came from a spiked mail killing a minion, card was discarded but the arrays were not updated. Battle Pass 357, RoomID=1081
Triggered stack trace error #1009, hope it helps. :)

edit: i continued gameplay and it predictably froze when my dwarf got attacked :p

    I'll look into this.

According to the log, you were required to discard from one of two Spiked Mail cards and a Walk card. I'm thinking that the display didn't show this - do you recall what it looked like you had in hand at the time?

So, I'm thinking this bug happens when you have two Spiked Mail cards in hand and one of them triggers, damaging (or perhaps killing) an enemy. I think visually it isn't returned to your hand and this causes problems when it comes time to select a card to discard.

Correct. I had Spiked Mail, Walk, Spiked Mail in hand, minion attacked...1st spiked mail triggered and failed roll, 2nd spike mail triggered and succeeded. Killed the goblin and was removed from my hand. Visually, I saw only 2 cards remaining in hand. Discard round came and the rest is history.

Now I look at this, I think it's another problem caused by missing places to put dead actors on the board. Ben's reviewing all the boards for this today.

    Same thing happened to me.
Spiked Mail prevented damage and (because it killed a mob ?) got discarded.
At end of round 'Runeblade' is required to discard but only has two cards that are not selectable for discard.

Game is stuck now. I have a screenshot but probably not relevant

Edited to add: This is with 1.21 (seen on March 24)
