Triple duel is the best league I have ever played and needs to be in every month. Here is how a round goes on an open map: You move. They run away. You move. Telekinesis. You move. Gusts of War. You move. They play Hot Spot, end turn. Pieces shuffle around the board ad nauseum. Here is how triple duel plays out: Both players move forwards. Both players play powerful attacks and blocks. If anyone is teleporting, it's usually (gasp) towards a fight and not away from it! Tons of action the whole game. If I could sum up the most common strategy I've seen from 1400+ ranked players in general, it is: refuse to engage. They avoid every fight until they finally draw the perfect combo or it's all-on-one. It's a winning strategy so understandable. But not being able to play cards is not very fun for the other half. Triple duel is the one time the script is flipped, and players are rewarded for immediately engaging their opponent. It's a very special and magical thing and it's lots of fun. Please don't rotate out the one event that forces people to actually fight me outside of a one-sided slaughter. Keep the fun. Keep triple duel in.
Whenever I play Triple Duel, I attempt to prevent any attacks as much as possible. Strategy doesn't really change. 6 Whiterunes and 12 Rings of Approp help keep people away, ha. That being said, it's nice to see someone have some passion for a part of the game. Nifty.
My number of league games for triple duel... Start of rotation: 16+ 2 weeks in: 8+ 3 weeks: 4 Final week: minimum to get a podium result If it were every month it would get old quick. Perhaps what we really want is more fast paced league maps. And those are the maps that prefer one class over the others. I think oasis and fools trap would make for great league maps.
what gets old is double quickdraws every single month, i can finish a game of 3duel or turret tango in the time it takes for card picking to finish. would love to replace half the quickdraws with triple duel or anything fast.
thanks for reminding me! that's a great league also. i play 3 elves there instead of 3 dwarves and although my opponents always try to run away they usually are not successful
I loved the good old Triple Duel and it was one of my favourite leagues. That were times where a warrior faced another and a well-timed warcry was decisive for one duel but not the whole fight since every duel was kind of independant (more or less). Now it is just a luckfest about drawing your Teleport Jaunt or Teleport Self and gang up on a victim. I respect your share of love for the current version, but you should also respect that not everyone is happy about that ...
Actually the first thing I said about triple duel in world chat was "this map would be better with 5 squares of impassable in between arenas." I agree that taking out the ubiquitous teleports would be an improvement on an already-awesome map. Still so much more fun than QD that I will never complain.
