Quick Novarena guild stats: 40.57% win-rate against other guilds 26.43% of our losses to other guilds were blitzes Recent recruits: @DemonDays (you've joined a while ago now, sorry for late welcome!) and @Drake Arron @Huey Laforet I'm online in your dreams? =x But ok yes let's play peasant so when are you usually on?
Nah, but I think that was primarily because Ct5 is insanely good at the game. Or I'm insanely bad. One of the two; of course, that's why I joined this guild, to get better. Thanks for the congrats, also Magic!
BTW, if anyone ever has the chance, I'd like it if someone could spectate a game of mine every once in while and tell me which decisions I'm making wrong. I'm pretty sure its something related to the chess aspect of the game, but I learns best from direct experience; just reading through the "what makes a good player thread" I think wouldn't be enough for me. Though, CT5 also suggested I could stream my games and look for help there, however I'm kind of nervous over the idea, so I'd like to wait and think about it. (I'm posting this here instead of the PM thread because I'd be fine with help from people outside of the guild too.)
I'd be more than happy to help you out in any way. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for when you're in a match. If you ever catch me online, don't be afraid to message me!
@Drake Arron all the more reason to stream! This way people will know what cards you have and can 'play along' with you, which makes discussing your play and options much easier.
Yeah, makes sense, thanks! If this community were much bigger I probably wouldn't consider it, but considering even for you 10 people is around the max, i think I'd be able to handle it. I'll look into it later.
So, first league match I pick some radiation card for fun and I wind up winning after chaining my Festering Guts with his Mad Dog... Only in QD. =)
hmm let's see I can go online at around 8:30 - 10:00 GTM +7 everyday. Obviously I won't be online everyday so if I know what's your usual active time I can try to catch you. The timezone difference might make things a tad difficult though
ahh I usually get up around when you get off >_< But I can change that! Once I'm not sick >_> Perhaps Tuesday the 22nd when you're usually on? Assuming I have timezones figured out correctly, I'll be up a bit earlier on that day anyways...
@Huey Laforet that was fun! I'll try to hop on earlier from time to time and catch you again :3 Couldn't record our matches unfortunately, but I still have some peasant goodness (and badness):
In between popping in for QD leagues, I've been watching anime, since I know I'll be too busy to watch (read: become engrossed in) anime when my break ends. Just finished Spice and Wolf 2 and Madoka Magica. All aboard the feel train. Choo choo.
Hey guys, I have a bit of a request here. It's part asking for advice, and part asking for help. A little backstory on this; So, ever since a Deppression I experienced a few years ago, I've had this strange problem- I can't do work. Or when I can, it 's extremely hard to do or has to be influenced by a reward system. However while a reward system works, it's extremely fraagile as it relies on me playing the same game for a long period of time. However I won't detail that, as its irrelevant now. Let me explain the situation a bit more- this problem is like a huge writers block. I can't, for whatever reason, work. Whether it be on the party backstory project I want to do, schoolwork, or even pushing myself farther in a game such as this one, I can't do it. I just recently discovered what I believe to be the key to it all- I lost my ability to have fun with my work. I used to be motivated to do it because I had fun with it, but I stopped doing so, partly because of lost hope and partly because I didn't have anyone to share the work with. Which is where you guys come in; Basically, I want to do the same streaming CT5 suggested i was going to do, but I want to be able to use it as a feedback/discussion for any work I want to do, as well. Whether it be school work (which would mostly be philosophy discussion ATM), or work for a game I'm doing. The reason I didn't just do this outright is because in order for this to work, I would need to have a reasonable number of people to feedback with. I mean, even just one, if they were interested enough in it, would probabl work. But the problem is that even CT5, one of if not the most popular person in the community, has trouble getting even one person to talk to on his streams in this community. Now, I understand he has no problem with it, and if I were going to do streams purely to stream I wouldn't either. However in order for this experiment to work, I kind of need people to feedback off of. This might seem somewhat selfish of me, however i don't really have many other options if I want to use this tactic, which is only one of two I can do right now, and the other one is hard to do (not including the reward system, which I've shelved for now). So, I figured I might aas well try and see if this community, if not being able to directly support the idea, has any idea's as to how to be able to have me support it. I used to want people on my future streams simply so it didn't feel weird. Now I also want them so I can possibly use it to help me be able to work. Only problem is, that's going to be kind of hard.. Another option, though I don't know if it would work as well, is typing out my work ideas and such on the forums directly, which I unfortunately thought of as I was typing this so it makes its placement a little bit strange. While this could work, I would still like to see if the streaming thing could also work, simply because direct feedback would be easier to use. I hope no one minds me asking something personal like this, however this work block is a problem that I've been dealing with for nearly two years, and I really think if I could get this to work, it would be gone completely. Thus, as soon as I thought of it I had to come here and ask if anyone could help out simply by being an ear that listens. If it's any consolation, if you guys did help me out like this I would be better able to give back to it, with one example being the Party Backstories I mentioned, though the first one is still in the very early works. Alright, that's everything. I hope this isn't too strange or selfish, but it feels like the only option I have at the moment, and it's so promising that I had to try and see if it would work. Oh, and you might say this deserved it's own forum post, but I don't like making entire posts if I'm not sure they'll amount to anything, partly because it's a much more clear mistake I have to look at in the future... Thanks, Drake
@Drake Arron, I might check out some streaming sometime, but I usually don't, mainly b/c my computer can barely handle a lot of "standard" computery things. Like, I watch CT5 after the fact when I know I can safely have everything else closed for awhile. $F^ , (I'm not sure I've ever watched him stream.) In other news, highly entertaining bout of team battles tonight! First up was Room9(@Han Lee) + @FinalCheetah + myself vs. @Khyle345 + @Rainingrecon + eddieroz78. Amidst very, very much back-and-forth of people joining and leaving before 3v3 was *finally* set up, Room9 wound up with an empty space and me when Cheetah joined our troop. Immediately, Room9 started on Cheetah about his and my elaborate plan we'd already devised (which we had not even *begun* to discuss yet ha ha ha ha). He left me to tell Cheetah the basics, then at some point he'd fill in whatever details I missed. $}^ J Yeah, thanks, buddy. Lol. So, I figured the best way to continue -that- terrible joke was to tell Cheetah the plan was for him to equip Festering Guts, us to push him out onto the front lines, and then uh, .. I left Room9 to fill in -that- blank. $}^ D He of course picked up the slack and said he'd snipe our Infected warriors with his wizard. (Our "elaborate plan" was made funnier since I said to equip FG, and both Cheetah *and* Room9 asked what FG was, lol!! Because, yeah, our fearless leader totally knows our plan by heart, right? Cheetah obviously got clued in at that point, lol.) After a little more joking, I asked if we were going to discuss a real plan or actually go through with the nonsense we'd been talking about thus far. Room9 decided the nonsense actually sounded like it was turning into a good plan, lol! So, we concocted a scheme where my zombie priest would force FG up from herself and Cheetah's human warrior, and Room9's dwarf wizard would as safely as possible help set off the bombs at the right times. I mentioned this was possibly the most troll team battle party ever. (I've already detailed more than originally intended, thus let's just do this! Ha!) - The battle starts! Celestial Dojo! - I don't have my priest. $8^ | For some reason, CH glitched and once again gave me a char I had removed from the party. ... Some laughs are had, but we have to get down to the real business of what to do. Ironically, our first hands of cards help us decide to just push forward anyway. My human priest elf warrior plays Impaler. Cheetah's human warrior plays FG. $}^ D - Cheetah starts Runnin' forward. Meh heh heh. - Opp elf warrior(? priest? warrior I think) approaches. - I Dash onto the VS directly between Cheetah's warrior and our opp's elf. (Sorry, I don't know who ran what!) - Opp elf strikes me! ... was this Parry or Parry failure? hard to recall now ... ppl said afterward we should've recorded this mess ... - I strike with a heavy blow! (Strong Hack was it?) ... wow, no block, no armor ... - Opp strikes again? or other opp char approaches? This is really hard to recall at this point because our team was in discussion -- felt like heavy discussion to me, although I know it was just my own tension for asking the big question: I had an Obliterating Chop ready to go. Do I hit the opp? Or do I hit the opp *and* Cheetah's warrior? $E^ D When it came down to taking my question seriously and answering, Room9 finally said just hit the opp -- just as Cheetah said, go for it, hit him, too. $:^ D I awaited the final say... Room9 changed his mind, let us go for it. $}^ D - WHACK WHACK lol! ... iirc, opp elf, 7 HP, Cheetah's Kee-Tenh, 19-20 HP. - Opp does something advantageous for opp (priest approaching wiz in the back iirc), but that poor elf is wide open. Laser Thrust + Impaler - 7 HP = guaranteed elf kabob. - I believe I'm out of cards, Cheetah has a visible Officer's Harness and a hidden Violent Spin, and Room9 has a Telekinesis and some other thing he keeps (Walk?). - Round 2! - I draw Elven Maneuvers and no blocks. Hmm. - Room9 TK's my elf right up in front of our opponents' remaining chars -- human priest, dwarf wizard -- facing them and adjacent to both their corners. - Dwarf wiz .. draws Combustible? .. and anyway, Walks to the back wall. (My memory's having trouble here. Overall, opp wiz played 2-4 Laser Sprays. That was pretty funny, too!) - Cheetah -- with his how many Parries? ha ha ha ha -- runs up beside me and directly in front of opp priest. - Priest attacks Cheetah, iirc. - Cheetah and Room9 had the same idea here: use Violent Spin to 1. press the priest against the wall right next to the wizard, 2. pin me up in front of the priest, 3. pin himself in front of the wizard. Uh-oh, the priest is facing away from Cheetah's warrior. $}^ D Opps take a beautiful, looong time before playing their next card. $}^ D - Opp wiz plays an attack! Ouch! (Was it Mighty Spark with an electrical trait?) - Cheetah uses some sort of harsh damage (Laser Thrust? rolled a 6?) on the priest's back! - Priest uses Fiery Stab on Cheetah's zombie warrior! - Room9 uses Fireball on all four of us! - Priest iirc uses another Fiery Stab on the zombie? - Cheetah-I-think determines it'll be more stylish if Room9 plays his last attack before I play my last attack... Room9 throws another Fireball! - Despite Cheetah's Barbed Platemail, he's very low on HP -- 6 maybe. At this point, I'm at mid-range HP. Our opps' chars are at mid-to-low HP. (That Combustible is doing a number on the dwarf.) It is time. Spoiler: It. Is. Time. - My elf warrior attacks! (Powerful Hack?) She attacks Cheetah's warrior!! - Guts explode all over the place! - I die! - Opp dies! - Opp dies! - inb4 Cheetah can die -> Victory! - World Chat, everyone's gg'ing and lol'ing! - Room9 says: gg xD - Rainingrecon says: gg - Khyle345 says: LOOOOOOOOL - Rainingrecon says: never seen that 'infected' item before - FinalCheetah says: technically that counts as me surviving. Game says so - ParodyKnaveBob says: QUADRUPLE KILL FOR THE WIN!!! lol $E^ D (I soon corrected to *technically* a triple kill, heh.) (Eventually, after me going nuts with the laughter,) - FinalCheetah says: i wish i was recording lol - ParodyKnaveBob says: yeah! - FinalCheetah says: would have added a leeroy jenkins sound clip in there So funny! So great... (Round 1 FG totally made up for my character glitch.) People dropped, people joined, we became 2v2. Cheetah led with me on it vs. Khyle and eddie it looks like? We kept human warrior, elf warrior, but no infection that time. $;^ b Our opps brought a human priest and dwarf warrior. Citadel Temple was the map methinks. Round 1, we rushed in and formed a wall on the VSs. Round 2, they might've actually just let us have another VP to passing, hard to recall. Soon, though, they took my elf to like 5 HP, and she had to Dash far, far away. Meanwhile, we took that dwarf down to 4 HP I believe. His Quickness Aura let him soon escape, too. Lots of Step 2 spacing. $}^ J Lots of Step 2 banter in Battle Chat. $}^ b Some spacing for real attacks, some spacing for bluffs. Very fun. $E^ b After enough chasing, that dwarf went down; after enough kiting, that priest finally put herself in a tough spot to where I either risked my attack getting blocked and almost guaranteed my death, or kept running and risked being followed anyway. Time for Obliterating Chop! No block! Victory! From World Chat (fixing a typo for clarity): - Khyle345 says: SO CLOSE - eddieroz78 says: great game gents - ParodyKnaveBob says: Goooo, Sorcererers! $:^ ] We had trouble picking up 3v3 for a third match, but Tronus la Tortoise(@Brother Tortoise) wanted to join, as did Testlum. I believe the two of them got with Khyle, and Cheetah and I sought another third, when the following lovely banter occurred (minus a couple irrelevant lines in the c/p): FinalCheetah says: yeah we need +1 for 3v3 pvp, we're on a winning streak Tronus La Tortoise says: ok we are ready Tronus La Tortoise says: you guys don't need +1 Tronus La Tortoise says: too OP ParodyKnaveBob says: lol Tronus La Tortoise says: please nerf Khyle345 says: I agree FinalCheetah says: knowing you, you're going to try to nerf us with rad bombs We went 3v2. I don't know the name of the next battleground, but it was a terrible beatdown. Was there any radiation? The true horror was Testlum running a pretty great Entangling Roots priest -- and my having decided to keep my maneuvering elf for at least one more match. I got Rooted round 1 before I could Nimble Strike onto the central VS. Next round, Cheetah tried coming to my rescue, but they Rooted me again, their attacks making mockery of my E.M., and my dying with something like Dash, Healing Dash, Flank Move, Violent Spin, and Vicious Thrust in my hand! $E^ b I don't even recall if Cheetah managed to fell any of them before they took him out, too. That was pretty harsh. $E^ } (Now I know how it feels to be on the stacked Roots receiving end, eh, @3beaner? Lol!) People disappeared from there. Tronus needed to work, which is cool. Cheetah ran off with Mr. Data to chase a fairy. I played a game of ranked and won, yay. (Whoo, 100% win rate this month! ha ha ha anyway) I figured I'd post this before chasing the fairy myself, but I didn't figure I'd post this. (So much! hahahaha) Welp, I hope you the reader enjoyed some at least. $:^ ] Someday, I'll remember to c/p the Battle Log before it disappears on awesome battles before trying to type up a narrative (if nothing else for fact-checking). $:^ P
