Classes are soooooooo 1980. Dump the classes altogether and go with a proficiency system like you have in most modern RPG games. The more you use something the better you get using it. Simple and elegant and opens a world of possibilities.
While ranged class WOULD be fitting, this game is based on D&D to an extent, rogues are known as backstabbing theives and very few people make use of their ranged abilities, they CAN use bows, yes, but they are more focused on stabbing targets in the back. What I personally want to see is some less crappy martial skills. They are all the same, no variation. Why not have crusher for piercing and slashing? Why not give piercing weapons linear? I mean, if you stab a man with a spear you could totally stab the guy behind him with the same spear if you are freakishly strong. Things like that. I think that if a class is added, the best thing to add would be subclasses: Divisions in the classes that players can pick from. So if say I play a wizard, I could focused soley on pyromancy and forsake all cold spells. Or I could pick acid and foresake all lightning spells. Things like that. Split priest into a full caster/buffer and a paladin who gains warrior armor but divine spells at a reduced level. A gish subclass with magic AND melee. A bow focused warrior. Or we could just have a ranger, with a pet wolf/tiger/boar/falcon and nature spells. I still want half orcs
