Exactly! ~nodnod~ Thank you. Hence my original question.

Hm. I didn't realize so many days had passed since I last posted in this thread. I honestly got to thinking, "did the discussion just suddenly die?" because I was waiting for an alert before coming back here. No alert came. I finally just checked on stuff and .. here we are ..

At the risk of pouring a can of worms into festering guts, I want to point out a couple things in attempt to help calm everything and keep this whole contest (and game!) fun. One thing, I wish more people were noticing; the other thing, quite frankly, stems from the Bible. I won't bother quoting any posts just for the sake of worms and guts.

    1. We can discuss current AA submissions as much as we want with whomever we want as long as Flaxative will reasonably not be in a position to read it. (Correct me if I'm wrong of course.)
    A. Caveat: He reads this whole forum.
    B. Explanation: More than once this past month, I've been approached by people who wanted to address me about my item; I discussed; Flaxative never saw any of my replies to these folks (again, correct me if I'm wrong). If anyone seeks to discuss items with others -- including their own -- just ask. Just talk. But, not in Flaxative's earshot. One way to ask is, "Hey, anyone who wants to discuss my current AA submission with me, please PM me or otherwise let me know. Like, I can even make one big group Conversation where we all discuss my item, dudes and dudettes! :) :) [etc.]"
    C. How the Rule is Universal to Contests in General: I've never seen the problem here stated as discussion in and of itself. Contrariwise, I've seen discussion encouraged in this very thread (albeit forbidden to take place within Flaxative's clear realm of observation when concerning any item(s) in current submission to any given AA contest -- his clear realm of observation being any posted threads in this forum which he moderates concerning the product/service whose company employs him). More succinctly, I've never seen the problem here stated as discussion in and of itself; I've only seen the problem put forth as the generally universal rule of any standard contest, "Do not influence the judge(s) outside the capacity officially given you." Since he's merely Aloyzo's go-between, it only makes sense that Flax wouldn't want extra info stuck in his head when trying to communicate to that poor, absentminded wizard. $;^ b
    D. Addendum: The community-chosen item thread/poll stated that we could discuss any of the poll's items except one's own submission.
    E. Possible Error on My Part: I just realized [BIG OL' REDACTION] ........ something that could affect discussing stuff in any kind of in-game chat, but I'd rather ask privately about this because it could open the door to increased abuse in-game (and I don't mean this contest).

    2. If I steal someone's car, then decide I made an error, then desire to change for the better, then demonstrate this desire by humbling myself and returning the car, then further demonstrate my desire to change for the better from this error by saying I don't want to steal anymore and by telling others not to steal, this is me repenting -- not me being a hypocrite. Even repenting, then faltering again at some point with theft, then truly seeking to correct things again, would be me backsliding then repenting again -- not me being a hypocrite. Being a hypocrite would be saying stealing is wrong, then willfully choosing to continue to steal anyway. Please, let no one of us call anyone a hypocrite for changing from one's past errors, especially when one has publicly stated such correction -- whether for something as important as thieving property or for something as unimportant as setting up games to play. Also, although I expect a dictionary would show the meanings of those words just fine, these were some of the much-more-illustrative accounts that came to my mind while reading this thread (from the reference source I mentioned way up above):
    A. Repentance + Being Merciful to Those Who Repent: Jeremiah 3:6-14; Matthew 21:28-31; Luke 15:11-32.
    B. Hypocrisy: Matthew 18:21-35; 15:7-9; 23:27-28.
    C. Hypocrisy + the Fact That Correcting One's Own Errors Makes One Not a Hypocrite: Matthew 7:1-5; 23:25-26.
(I just see so much unforgiveness in this world toward people who put forth serious effort to change, I thought I'd address this openly in hopes anyone reading might take it home with 'em.)

Number 2 above probably swerves off-topic technically, but I really want to try to help us keep all our humanity in perspective. (Thank you, @Dieben! $E^ ] heehee) Meanwhile, number 1 strives to be purely on-topic and is the original meat and intent of this post.

    My regards, ~nod~ $:^ J

I feel like I should respond with something thoughtful that contributes to the discussion, but I thought this would be funnier.

Random question: in the very off chance my item is selected, may I give it away instead of selling it? I'll obviously never use it. It's fine if I can't; I just thought it would be the Cardhuntrian thing to do, to pass it along to someone who would use it.

    Was just curious. Thanks.

If anyone wanted to but hasn't yet submitted an item design, hurry up! Submissions close [some time on the 31st]. ;)

Regardless of the timezone, you have [around] 1 hour and 30 minutes, Flax. (He's probably on a Skittles face-stuffing rampage and angrily waiting for the video to upload :D)

He only said submissions would close; he never stated when he would reveal the winners.

Isn't that obvious, wait you are right some people may not see the obvious. (+ previously he didn't reveal the winner immediately)

Point taken. Can't blame me for getting a little overexcited. Must be the sugar.

I'm not sure about the video timing, or if there'll be a video at all. I have to go through the submissions, run the shortlist by Jon, and set up the poll for the player-chosen item.

In case it makes any difference, the videos are very useful, as they tell us what's good and what's bad. One might also help us when it comes to voting for our favourite (as you'll probably pick up on insightful things about the shortlisted items which we wouldn't).

The video review of the submissions is probably the reason for half the people submitting.
