I never ran that combo until recently, and things just dont add up as expected. I get the oddest damage numbers out of it, so i want a confirmation whats happening...
Last instance had me attacking a 10 hp character with the combo, the character having only one card in hand. The combo dealt 8 dmg total though, so not (3dmg + 2dmg) x2 =10 as hoped, instead it seems to be the 3dmg x2 + 2dmg for the card AFTER the All out Attack was applied. If thats the case, punishing strike is a horrible card to run with AoA.
The point of this thread is, i found it a nobrainer to get the total damage doubled, and i want to out the interaction as counterintuitive and worth to be improved upon.

Some cards increase the damage of an attack after it hits (Punishing Strike, Devastating Blow, Touch Of Death, and some others). While it lowers the bonus given by All Out Attack, it also allows to have different behaviours towards Desperate Block and Lifesaving Block. I think it is totally fine that way.
Maybe it could be made clearer if terminology made a distinction between increasing the damage and increasing the attack value (which only becomes damage when the attack hits).

AOA doubles the base damage of the melee attack exactly as the card states.
All modifiers such as frenzy, blind rage, and per-card damage are added afterward.
As noted, it's lousy for combining with Punishing Strike.

Yeah the card descriptions are sound ONCE you learned how the combo behaves. Wouldn't call it clear. But it is still is disappointing if you think of the awesome damage potential punishing + aoa would have otherwise.

On the similar path here, does AoA go before or after Frenzy effects, or traits, etc? Just a curious train of thought.

It is a card in your hand so it gets resolved after other cards in hand starting from the left. You could have visited that link to see that.

I know that, I'm referring to attachments vs cards in hand. As in, say you play a Cold spell, and have Cooling laser in hand and have Savage Curse. Which applies first, the Curse or the Cooling? There's other combos, too, I'm just not able to look them up easily on phone :p

Are you going to read the linked part of the FAQ yet?

And part 10 and 13 (now that I'm able to check) both talk about attachments. (Ie, Vulnerable, etc) so I still haven't a clue. Ofc, I'll never be a pro at this game, nor do I plan to build a deck around card interactions like that, so perhaps it doesn't matter that I don't understand it.
