  2. Yeah, I knew mine (Ribcage Of Tvericus) basically had no chance but I at least tried to make it tightly themed and not OP. Even if Only Bones were gold quality it would still be a tokenless item. Maybe I should have made it 2x Ill-Fitting Armor so it would be tokenless even if Only Bones were emerald quality but I figured a long-dead resurrected corpse would just have to have Rusty Armor, so /shrug.

I just wanted another staff with zero damage on it. I dream of the days when I can win a match without inflicting 1 point of damage.

I curious what people thought of my Scavenged Trog Armor (1x Crude Plates, 1x Chain Harness, 1x Ill-Fitting Armor. It only came out to be a level 3 rare, apparently.

I was hoping to carry the theme of the Trog Gouger and how frustrating they are to face at low level before you get some good puncturing spear thrusts. The level is nice to me as well, since it's about when you'd be scavenging said armor.

But it's only my first entry, so I'll take any feedback anyone would like to provide.

I'd have preferred 2x Plates, but that would violate the one-monster-card rule. I don't see the need to include Ill-Fitting Armor, as it doesn't match Trog Gougers and the item level isn't that much of an issue. I think the chain harness should work fine since another armor card is to be expected. I also think a Stab would have been a weak enough attack to work as a third card, and keep to the Gouger theme.
I absolutely do not "get" Flaxative's sense of style, and have no idea if it will be selected, but Crude Plates for players could be hella-fun. :)

@Gearbox: I understand you specifically wanting it to be armor, but I think of their armor and their stabs, much like @Sir Veza said. Therefore, I could see this as a Dwarf Skill -- the armors plus some sort of stab, yes. I remember seeing your item and pretty much liking the idea of trying to use the armor. (Of course, any of us who's played against Gary a couple/few times knows that we can totally abuse the push-back armor, too...)

Edit: Scratch that. Just checked behind myself. Dwarves don't carry Attack cards on their skills, n/m! $F^ ,

  7. Ill-fitting armor seems reasonable for Trog armor on anything non-Trog, since... well, the wearer isn't a Trog and it wasn't designed for him. This is especially true if it was scavenged from a dead Trog, since it is plausible that the armor was damaged during the process of acquisition.

My personal bias for the contest leans towards hoping that at least one winner is quite funny, if not necessarily amazingly optimized.

Punf's Trained Panicking ( http://forums.cardhunter.com/thread...stom-item-submissions.8127/page-5#post-100514 ) isn't really a great contender for tokenless human skills you'd love to play, but it's very thematically appropriate, fully within the rules, and does provide some utility with Raise the Alarm. Perhaps with an Arrogant Armor build where it'd cycle nicely (Arrogant Servant, heh -- Vassal's Plate and Peasant's Plate are not amazing but thematically fit), this might be sort of neat.

I have a severe weakness for wordplay (as should be obvious from my occasionally proposing random things in the Smithy thread with names like "The Unbearable Brightness of Beams"...), so of course I'd like Juxtaposition's "Tongue and Cheek" ( http://forums.cardhunter.com/thread...stom-item-submissions.8127/page-3#post-100189 ). OK, it's not terribly well themed for a Halloween costume (which I would think to be the point of this contest), but it's the sort of thing I'd like to see in the game at some point, and it doesn't seem like it'd be out-of-whack

3Beaner's "Gnomish Stoutness" ( http://forums.cardhunter.com/thread...stom-item-submissions.8127/page-4#post-100264 ) with Duck, Hit the Deck, and Taunt amuses... but Taunt should probably be gold at least considering that it affects not just obvious 'targeting' like attacks, but also individually-targeted buffs -- a Taunt on a player's sole priest means that the priest can't use a non-burst purge on himself to get rid of it, for instance. Impenetrable Nimbus becomes a dead card for the duration of 2. Inspiration, dead card. Martyr's Blessing, *nope*. And so forth.

Inkfinger's Tasty, Tasty Staff ( http://forums.cardhunter.com/thread...stom-item-submissions.8127/page-2#post-100112 ) obviously blows through the one monster card rule, but it does at least entertain. Range 5 damage 5 crushing with no minimum range, though, is much too nice for bronze; toss on some buffs and *ouch*. Tongue Storm doesn't have this issue as much since it's flagged as magic rather than melee, so the buffability is a bit lower.

I liked Emergency Tactics, and think it's probably one of the best. Raise the Alarm fits both thematically and works well as a Human Skill. The other two cards, whilst not servant cards, fit the theme as well and are far from overpowered.

  10. So because there is obviously nothing more productive to do at this moment. I guess Ill take the chance of quickly reviewing every item on AA3 because, hey, why not

So lets go, In order, here´s every item from page 1 and 2:

-KoboldButter´s Stench Demon Horns: I´m not sure whose monster this is meant to emulate; the places that link here thing on the Wiki doesn´t works for me. The combination of items is interesting; A.Armor does saves you from Trip, and Horned Headbut is quite pushed for a helmet attack, but in line of the flavor involved
-j3st3r´s Infected: This is fun, that´s about it. it´s a level -3 item so those are always cool :p. It would´ve been fun for it to be like Festering Guts/2 Dangerous Maneuver for suicide tactics but that´s not really how zombies operate. Could´ve been nice boots or even a robe with Resistant Hide on it
-LieutenantCommanderData´s Ribcage of Tvericus: DEATH TO THE BEJE-oh wait I play stab warriors....DEATH TO THIS ITE-just kidding. The flavor is perfect, but Only Bones, as said up there, is a card that´s only balanced because you know you´re facing it
-timeracer´s Chupacabra´s Claw: I checked the Chupacabra´s attacks; I´m not sure where Devouring Touch comes from (Not that it´s out of flavor its just that it´s the first time I see the card). Item is balanced but I don´t think it adds much to the game, Vampires already have a bunch of strong tokenless divine items
-SceoMyntan´s Argy Bargy Brand Sneakers: I dig Ooze Shove, and the combination of items is on point. Arguable whether or not Ooze Shove deserves a place on Boots out of all things but it´s a pretty well rounded item; we need more Muscle Through in our lives
-Maniafig´s Chupacabuckler: Out of all the places where Mind Muddle should theoretically be if it ever were balanced to be a player card, I´m pretty sure a Shield is not the place. Dodge is on point and Jarring Block is a reasonable Block to put on a Chupacabra item otherwise
-Killer75´s Storge Proboscis: One of my favorite items; flavorful, balanced an on point. I´ve seen the many edits this item has gone through and I like the last one the best because it´s not just a straight up Vampire item anymore; we can use a little more Wings of Faith in our lives
-Whammo´s Battleaxe of the Berserker: This is raw, like really raw. Strong design and Fumble is a deadly drawback, specially when Raging Strike and enemy wizards are involved, so I don´t think this is too OP even at 2 Minor Tokens, great item
-wavy´s The Pounder: I am 95% sure Tripping Sweep isn´t a monster card. I don´t see the theme of this. The combination of items on this is OK since you can sort of chase down people with L.Bash but can´t really hit them with your Anvil until you run them into a wall, but Tripping Sweep´s Halt 2 is very dubious
-Lucky Dice´s Servant Emergency Tactics: I love this item. Wounded Block is an oddball of the theme (Desperate would´ve been cool) but the two other items are on point and Raise the Alarm is....well it could arguably be Gold; it requires no line of sight and it´s a 2-for-1, but it is inflexible. This however wouldn´t change the power token cost of the item and it would be nice to see more items with Retreat on them. Nice stuff
-Dave´s Elite Troglodite Armor: The sole thought of Maneuvering Elves wearing this item is irritating. However, this is a very simple, solid design, so I can´t help but commend it
-BlackVoidDeath´s Monkey Dagger: This is solid and simple, but I feel it suffers from the ´Off-Theme-Blind-Rage-for-cost-reduction Syndrome´ we saw a bunch in AA1
-Vermillion´s Ocean Staff of Blitzenkripper: This is pushed, like, really really pushed. Blizzard Breath is a straight uprade to CoC, and a very good one at that, so it could be Gold and would push this to level 21. I don´t think it´s overpowered or off-theme, it´s just a little overwhelming
-The Wocket´s Cursed Idol´s Loathing Staff: I like how un-pushed this item is, and Beam of Hate is a decent tradeoff of 1 range for 1 damage compared to Arcane Beam. Cool stuff
-Gulo Gulo´s Thalamic Rage: You evil, evil man. I like your style
-Magic Elves´ Melvelous´ Magnificent Magical Medallion: +10 points for a name I´m sure Melvin would pick. A nice alternative to Asmod´s Telekinetic Chain, which might be good or bad depending on who you ask
-Founder´s Tin Golem´s Gauntlents: This could use being less un-pushed, but it´s otherwise solid. It has an extra Able Bludgeon for your Crusher needs
-Duke Tensor´s Spiritastrophe: Encumbers, the Linears, the Bursts, oh my! This item is cool, hot, shocking, caustic and unstable, but it´s all kinds of awesome. It´s 1 Major 1 Minor if my calculations are correct and I think that´s a good spot
-Fjfjunior´s Citrine Demon Crystal: This is a level 25 item, it is a very evil one at that, no thank you
-Harels84´s Scepter of the Animancer: I´m wondering why this is a Wizard item, but for some reason I feel like that´s better. If you´re a wizard, you can´t heal the dude you just rezzed, and the other cards on it are weak and put this at a Token cost. Strong design but a little dubvious on the theme
-Volopt´s Devious Tactics: I´m all in for DO Blocks and Pickpockets for Elves, but this is a level 24 item
-Super4011´s Staff ot the Wyverns: Boring, but it does its job in balance and theme
-Jesusgzz80´s Blocker Delightful: No theme and it´s a level 23-ish item, whoops
-Dwedit´s Festering Robes: Oh wait this is what I was talking about up there, whoops
-Inkfinger´s Tasty Tasty Staff: Tongue Grab is at least a Gold card, which pushes this item level but still to a respectable position. The other cards are fine as they are kind of worse replacements to other magic cards (They don´t benefit from Arcane Aura/Shell....though they don´t Mind Burn you either). Cool theme
-LeisureSuitLoli´s Alb of the Necromancer: This is also a very un-pushed item. I feel like it could´ve gotten away with better cards because Resurrection´s cost is no slouch, even if you are, say, stacking Officer´s Harnesses to pay for it
-Mr Magnifico´s Pudding Padding: This is excellent, like, really excellent. Martyr makes other targets less attractive, and then you have the Death Meld that makes the Priest unatractive as well. The Cloth Armor is on point because I feel Death Meld is very undercosted and it would be the one way to get away with this at Tokenless
-MathuranF´s Cannibal Pike: This has a strong theme for something that isn´t in this game (If it is then whoops on my part). Quite balanced
-Dingding123´s Dingding´s Dingaling: I believe DingDing DQ´d himself when he said "No Monster Theme". It´s basically a Rod Of Palver Tree with a stronger TP, not that interesting
-Purple Red´s Fedora of Fear: I think this is on theme with Melevlous in spirit, which is why I like it. It´s not too pushed and Wizard´s Hat is arguably not that strong unless you get a great start, but it´s combination with Sparkling Cloth Armor making you so elusive is a little troublesome
-Sir Veza´s Halloween Waltz: 3 Stuns at Tokenless seems kind of awful, but then again, Priests can get 3 Halts on in slot and the items on it is....OK? I don´t think this is strong just that it´s not a Divine Item Take out Able Bludgeon for some other small Move card and this could arguably have been some cool boots
-SentientToaster´s Token of the Elder Mind: Can we agree that Brainhook+2 Traits (At tokenless no less!) is a bad thing? Yes it has the Brain Burn/Mind Leak combo but you can mitigate that with armor and IDK some Ironwood/Amethyst Crystal nonsense and suddenly you can smite the enemy team for 6-12 without line of sight
-Justicar Judicator´s Afflicted Nimbus Blade: Nimbus Blade went dull it seems. This seems like a relatively balanced level 18 item but it doesn´t has a theme
-softsofttofu´s Blessed Tidings: The day 3-zard builds can have Word of God is the day the game explodes, also, level 27 item, whoops
-hagr´s The Ugly Stick: I very much like this item´s set, but its theme is weak. Not to mention 3 Rad Purge at tokenless might get slightly out of hand
-Xaryn´s Reinforced Dooris: This would be an interesting Dwarf Skill, not sure on it being good on boots though. +10 points for having the boldness of making a Door item
-Wandere´s Cumbrous Spear: This is a strong themed item and I dig it; Reactive Trip isn´t particularly strong when you´re stabby-stabbing, so it provides some interesting situations
-peonprop´s Bruising Broomstick: I´m against the liberal use of Impetous Slash, but the rest of the kit is on point. Muscle Through on weapons is argubale (But Violent Spin is on weapons so it´s a decent stretch), and the more I think about it, Crushing Sweep is not that pushed, specially on size one characters
-Happenstance´s Sun Wukong Boots: There is sadly no Monkey King in this game, which is a shame because this item would win instantly if it were. Cool tokenless boots that a bunch of aggressive priests would very happily run

    Next ones coming later

    Yeah, let me explain.

That's like two different scenarios. Desperate is for when the Servant values his own life pretty high and wants to protect himself at all costs. Wounded is when his first thought is to warn others.

  13. Part 2 (Pages 3 and 4)

-Dargenom´s Spearman´s Friend: Pinning Spear Toss is a NOPE. Rest of the items are relatively on point, however
-ben.wray Mutanthide Boots: A Teleport 6 would, at least, be gold or aguably Emerald, a Teleport 6 that gives you the easiest to land Charge in the game is off the charts. No thanks
-Finial´s Evil Eye Talisman: No theme I can see, but it´s a very solid item at the cost. A Purge card and a cycling card, plus a relatively bad Bad Luck to balance it out
-Shardey´s Apprentice Ninjitsu: Until the oriental expansion comes out, this sadly has no theme. Obvious Maneuver would´ve been a more fitting item (FLASHY NINJITSU) though Fumble is a more painful drawback, AoA at Tokenless suddenly seems.....OK?
-Movie1132´s Wonderous Wyvern Staff: Again, boring but does its job (Really hard to make items about RWAR RWAR SPIT LIGHTNING BOLTS interesting, to be honest). This one feels slightly more pushed though
-Haesslicherbob´s The Avenger: Shambling Bash is undercosted, I would rate it at LEAST Gold, however, the item would still have the same Token cost there, which is amusing. The theme is strong and the item is well rounded, good addition to Crusher builds
-Nictus´ Hercules Legacy: This has a Hercules theme, not a Hydra theme, guess which one isn´t in this game. The collection of items isn´t bad and it would be a token cost but Traveling Curse is actually a great card so I´m not to keen about this
-Ciopo´s Wym´s Dragon Staff: Dragon breath should be at the very least Gold, maybe Emerald, which could push this item at 1 Major 1 Minor. Otherwise, it has a strong theme and doesn´t do that much damage on its own without its signature card, which is interesting
-SwapGoTron´s Scalebound Spite: This is my own item. The only thing I will say about it is that its theme is 2/3rds Lizardmen Darter and 1/3rd Slub Gut which I found very satisfying
-Pawndawan´s Musclebound Boots: As said earlier, we need more Muscle Through in our lives and this item is probably the way to go about it. Clumsy is an interesting drawback, but it is admittedly a very short one, which might make this item slightly too efficient
-Juxtaposition´s Tongue and Cheek: Puns and a good theme aside, this puts two very direct damaging attacks on an Arcane Item, which could be catastrophic
-DupleX´s Rumbling Clodhoppers: THIS is how Rumbling Charge should work. An imprecise Teleport and the very bulky charge apart from each other, great stuff
-Frostguard´s Dog Dodgers: This is a pushed tokenless, but a well themed one, so I´m conflicted. Boots have a ton of great Tokenless options so I don´t think this warps anything (though I´m sure a lot of people don´t miss the old Dodge)
-Obernoob´s Vial of Stench: Strangely enough, this feels....OK? The Unholy Wellspring is dubvious because it gives you an obscene self-serviceable combo at 1 Minor token, but Stink Bomb sticks to me as a Priest card, the long-lasting poison easily rolls off with the Trait madness, and Demonic Miasma is on theme.
-3beaner´s Mummy Shroud: This is also a strong theme, but again, Only Bones is a no-no in ranked multiplayer
-Wildarm´s Aloyzo´s Ornithopter Aparathus: This is so meta it comes back from not being funny to being really funny. Great kit, I feel it would´ve been a cooler helmet but that might be pushing it
-Jarmo´s Zomboni Slippers: Who would use this?
-Hwango´s Spider Cultist Blade: The theme is strong on this, except arguably for the Stone Feet but it also fits the whole nature theme it seems to have going for it. Cool stuff
-Steinhauser´s Bruiser Battle Plan: Lets talk about how this is, if my calculations are correct, tokenless. Then lets immediately not talk about it
-Stexe´s Ooze Shoes: Cute item, again slightly underpushed but it sticks with the theme very well (That was a horrible pun in hindsight)
-Jedimage´s Glory to the Elder Gods!: A theme out of this game and also strictly underpushed. With a better name and some more interesting suicidal cards (Raging Strike, Demonic Feedback) this could´ve been a cool design
-Mikey76500´s Rage of the Winds: As a survivor of the terrible Hurricane Season that was beta Card Hunter, I will kindly tell you to go eat dirt, as every poor warrior does when hit by old Whirlwind
-Rainingrecon´s Experimental Genetics: The name sounds like a Divine Skill? The theme is strong but Brain Burn, as I remember, is not a priest card. Mind Leak would´ve been perfect
-Arrombador´s Geomancer´s Ring: I´m not against Lava Pool, trust me, what I´m against is 4 Lava Pools. Item set is OK but I think Path of Knives is off-theme, I don´t remember Geos using it (I might be wrong)
-Urborg Vengrath´s Zombie Head Flail: (I´m judging this based on it having Brains!), succint and to the point. It´s not that strong on the zombie theme, but its strong on its very own brand of a zombie theme
-Clan Crusher´s Staff of the Mind Flenser: Part of me understands that it is likely that enemies have spare Armor/Block cards to mitigate the damage from Psychic Blast. Another part of me feels very bad for Elf Wizards everywhere. this would be great if Psychic Blast only had a shorter range
-Hawkviper´s Mindstorm Amulet: The moment you didn´t call this "Brainstorm Amulet" is the moment that you lost 10 points. Also, Hurricane is evil and we should stay away from it
-stupid531´s Mangler´s Anger: I am not entirely sure if there´s a theme behind it, but I like the very functional design
-3beaner´s Gnomish Stoutness: Theme is good, Taunt is evil, that´s it
-Dieben´s Flail of Many Heads: Again, I´m against the liberal use of Impetous cards. This would be a level 12 Weapon and it has some very relevant cards (And a VERY strong Block). Too pushed for my tasted
-Sithobi1´s Black Queen´s Crown: Very long ranged damaging spells in Arcane Items is perilous ground. An 8 damage, 6 range attack with a strong defensive options and another decent long range attack on a single-token item is just asking for trouble
-Fanturluche´s Feral Boots: Bending the rules slightly, but for a good cause. Scamper is trash but sacrifices must be made for the theme, I guess
-Hidden Jaguar´s Druidic Barkskin: This would be great and would push my dumb Priest to 15 Entangling Roots. Balanced and not too strong as it costs a token
-Hello World´s Glass-Eye Shield: Aegis Of Aversion except Warriors have an easier time using it and Priests have a harder time using it. Fine design, if a little redundant
-Adunien´s Golem hand: A very solid one token item, with Crushing Chop to boot. Nothing to special but it is functional and on theme
-Slayer696´s Van´s Arcane Stick: No theme and it´s a 2 minor token Deadly, Deadly Staff (This isn´t a bad thing, just pointing it out), maybe in another contest
-Balor´s Illoth´s Sceptic Lance: Not a theme I can see, Charge is (as of yet) not a weapon card and Paralytic Poison is brutal to say the least, pass
-Jeztercap´s Garbs of Gelatinous Goo: Has two monster cards, one of which is not fit for Multiplayer use, pass
-CitizenFry´s Garcotto´s Cleaver: Staggering Chop is arguably dangerous ground, but getting maximum value of it is difficult and this item is very well themed and rounded. Cool beans
-Fortaleza´s Mutant Grub Egg Hide: The existence of this item alone would give a huge middle finger to wizards everywhere, and I like how the backup Tough Leather Hides give you health if they Melt it. It´s not too powerful since it costs a token and I think it´s balanced, but I´m still not sure about it as it is an item with a very specific use

Heh, figured as much. Couldn't avoid putting Pinning Spear Toss in my submission, cause it's such an interesting and unique card. I'm not much of a PvP person myself, but I can see the word 'Halt' doing annoying things. :p

I grant that teleport six is awesome, and probably at least gold-worthy, yeah, although I'll point you can only get one per deck. But I don't think the Rumbling Charge it gives you is that broken. How many maps outside of Host can you really draw that long a straight line often? And don't forget: they'll always see it coming. If they've got any moves left, they can probably jump out of the way, or even just jump closer so you can't do as much damage. If they're out of moves, it might be able to deal 8, or if you're very lucky 10 damage to them... but that puts it on spar with hot spot or MAYBE wall of fire if their characters are clustered together yet somehow none of them are blocking your path to the adjacent-to-all square.

And even looking at the teleport 6 thing by itself.... there's a LOT of situations where it'll probably be used to the same effect as a sprint, or even a scamper. In situations where it's useful, it's very very useful, and it'll almost never be a dead draw the way many move cards can be if your fight devolves into a grappling slugfest over the victory squares, sure.... but I don't think it's quite game-breaking.

(And I know I'm personally biased (see profile pic) but I really dig mimetic armor as a thematic stand-in for retaliatory mutation.)

The problem isn't the teleport 6, the problem is that it also gives a charge, not any charge but a rumbling charge.

  17. I'd also like to add that there already exist nigh-impossible matchups for extremely one-dimensional teams. Sure, CoB has no answer to Only Bones but then again it also has no answer to Impenetrable Nimbus, and if my item were chosen you could run a maximum of 3 of the former but 30 of the latter.

I had considered putting some better armour on it (such as that actually used by the Tin Golem), but decided against it on the basis that I wanted some different low-tier armour. I also wanted it to be balanced, given the Able Bludgeon it's packing (which is quite high damage for armour).

If I wanted a cost reduction I would have used a black card, like in my Hell's Fire item in AA1. tbh, I actually wanted it to be a (minortoken)(majortoken) but didnt know what cards to change to which cards.
