Shrine of the Astral Guardians too easy now

In Shrine of the Astral Guardians, the first level seems extremely easy. Since you only need three stars to win, that means you can just beat up one of the three Guardians and then huddle in a victory square to win in a few more turns.

In an earlier alpha build, it didn't matter how many people were in a victory zone, as long as at least one person from each side was in a zone the zone was 'contested.' I think Dorian designed this level with that in mind. Now that it's a numbers game, the level design doesn't quite make sense. Perhaps you need six stars to win and the bad guys are worth 2 stars each, so it's not such a quick victory. Or perhaps they only need a few stars to win and so you have to hustle to get that one down.

Are you sure that sounds incorrect to me and also the fact that they keep pelting you with spells would make it not so easy.

I guess you have to not lose a character in the process, or you have to beat up a second one... but there are enough nooks and crannies in each 'tower' that if you gang up on one of the three and survive, you can just hide out in the tower and win in two turns.

Whereas in the original version of the level, you had to basically 'leap' from victory zone to victory zone, always keeping at least one person in the zone, so that you weren't conceding stars.

You could very possibly be correct I'm not sure since it was a good while since i tried it.

The level could work if it was whoever had control of more victory locations. As it is, I confess to doing exactly what you say. I gank one, stand in the corner, and pass three times. But with this change I'd at least have to fight for a second corner. Simultaneously if they only needed three stars too.

Don't get used to easy... it won't be for much longer heh. But also are you higher level then it, or have better gear then ya did originally? There are lots of things that can make a level easier (like I was beating the trogs pretty easy even before it changed.. but I was the max level for that map with decent items I had collected). There are enough challenging levels out there that if you found a strategy (easy to do or hard) its good, but it is not necessarily going to work on the next one. Also the maps will get hard again so there is always that as well.

Also it usually seems the first level is where they are taking it easy on ya. Its kinda the "Welcome.. see its easy.. come on in" of the map. Then they drop a dragon on ya.. lol.

I guess I should be clearer that it's not so much that the level is easy (which, as TheRev correctly notes, can be due to outleveling or having the perfect gear for a dungeon)... it's that the concept of the level seems broken compared to its original design from alpha now that the rules for victory squares have changed. I wanted to flag it so that the level designers can revisit it and make sure it's working as intended.

First let me say wow.. when I did this, I really did it the hard way lol. But playing it again I kinda see what you mean. Other then running a guy to each one, and killing them in 1v1 combat, I just ran all my guys to one and sat there. I see a few issues that could be addressed quite easy to help make things a little tougher even if someone follows your strategy. Which to be honest (IMO) that is just what this is, is a good strategy for that level to beat it quite quickly.

First, this map only has three guys in it worth one star each. They could increase the value of the enemies to two stars, and that would solve the issue, but as is now they have to have some measure in there so when you kill everyone the level ends.

Second, at least in my run the guy on the Victory location ran out before I could catch up with him (I was trying out my all priest party heh.). If they had them return to another victory point other then running around mid-map, I would of had to go back out and chase them down. This would of made things harder since they are all ranged (Magic), and melee would of had a hard time chasing them down while holding victory points.

Third, they could add another guy to the middle Victory Point. This would prob add the most difficulty out of the three options, but another guy means they have 4, while you just have 3 and therefore you have to not only kill one, but move the other off the Victory Points some how.

Just some suggestions on how to make it a bit better, but as is.. I can't say if it is broken. If that isn't an intended strategy for that level, then yea its broke. But if that is exactly what they meant you to do.. well that isn't :)

Either way my bad, I get this is a system change is this intended question other then a general complaint on stages being just too easy.
